When will Casino Re-open?

Many casinos had no other option rather than closing after the novel coronavirus hit many states. The Covid-19 has dramatically interfered with the gambling business. Great news! Many casinos are planning to re-open amidst the pandemic.

Several Las Vegas Casinos are looking forward to re-opening on June 4 following confirmation from Governor Steve Sisolak. However, not all casinos will open on June 4. The properties enjoying this privilege include Caesars Palace, Flamingo, the Strat, Wynn Las Vegas, Encore Las Vegas, MGM Grand, Sahara Las Vegas, New York, and the Signature.

State governments have already allowed casinos in Montana and Oklahoma to re-open. Casinos in Idaho and tribal lands in Michigan have also opened their doors.

Enjoy a trip of a lifetime in a safe way come June 4 in various casinos.

Expecting to visit your favorite casino? Be ready to have your temperature checked and other protocols to follow.

Safety Measures in Place

Temperature Checks

All visitors must have their temperatures checked upon arrival, and every casino must always have medical professionals on-site. There will also be designated areas for COVID-19 testing for the guests.

Mask Wearing

One notable trait about COVID-19 is that it is primarily spread by pathogens entering through body openings like nose, eyes, and mouth. Putting on protective equipment can offer protection against the infection. No guest will be allowed to enter casinos without wearing a mask. Employees, too, are no exception, mask-wearing is a must.

Sanitization

Casinos will install hand sanitizer dispensers and several handwashing stations. Also, surfaces and gaming equipment will be sanitized regularly.

Gaming Equipment Maintenance

The safety of the playing cards should be maintained by ensuring that cards are sanitized, and only the dealer touches the cards in games like blackjack. Dealers should wash their hands with water and soap before relieving the previous dealer. For hand-dealt games like Ultimate Texas Holdem, customers will be required to wear disposable gloves that will be provided at each table.

Social Distancing

Social distancing seems like the most vital strategy of preventing the spread of coronavirus. Don’t be looking forward to grabbing a slot machine next to your lover. Gambling in these perilous time of COVID-19 are more solitary, and casino occupancy is limited to 50%. Don’t panic of forgetting to keep the required distance; all casinos should have plenty of signs reminding their guests of distancing.

Some of the procedures put in place to allow social distancing are:

  • An active game table must be between two closed tables.
  • A maximum of three players on a six-position table with unoccupied seats in between will be observed.
  • No guest should stand behind seated players. Some casinos have placed stanchions and ropes to make this possible.

Impact that the closure had on Casino’s Revenue

When the term casino is mentioned, you imagine that gamblers are there for many hours day and night. For the first time in history, most casinos were forced to close down following the coronavirus outbreak. The closure of casinos across the states has led to a decline in revenue. Macau- the world’s largest gambling hub, has recorded a decrease in revenue by more than half. Similar results are also evident in many US casinos. Las Vegas Sands Corporation has filed a loss of 51% in revenue, and Boyd’s revenue fell by 17.7%, which reveals the impact that COVID-19 has on casinos.

The 989 tribal and commercial casinos will rob the United States’ economy a whopping $43.5 billion. That’s sad news! Thanks to casino re-opening, these figures will begin taking a positive turn.
